Contributor: Huronia Branch Master Thomas Fontaine
For the godorenshu, kenshi from two neighbouring branches, Toronto and Eglinton, traveled north to join us for a two hour training session. For some of the new kenshi, it was a first opportunity to see advanced ShorinjiKempo techniques performed and all the minarai kenshi from Huronia Branch benefited tremendously from the experience of training with many of the more experienced members from other branches. Our guests also treated us to demonstrations of technique and embu.
Although no members of Canada's newest branch -- Leaside, also in Toronto - were able to attend, it is our intention to make these godorenshu a regular event hosted by the different branches in Ontario in turn. In the past year, members of the different branches have also supported one another by attending and contributing to service projects organized by individual branches. By working and training together, we will be able to develop strong bonds between the branches and their members, and foster the continued growth of ShorinjiKempo in Canada. The next group practice session will be hosted by Leaside Branch in January, 2005.
